OK, Sunday was Ivana's moving day. Ivana's old place is on a steep hill. So naturally we got the biggest snow in seven years starting Saturday night and continuing to dump all day Sunday. The day, went something like this:
  • Work like dog all day Saturday pulling carpets and painting with Brenda in preparation (thank you, Brenda!)
  • Collapse exhausted at about 1:30 am
  • Fail to set alarm properly
  • Wake up late when Ivana calls, worried about snow
  • Get dressed in hurry, shovel driveway and spread sand to get car out to take Brenda home and go pick up truck
  • Spend extra money on additional insurance because it seemed really foolish not to
  • Get phone call from Ivana while picking up truck that almost everyone who said they would help is bailing because of the snow
  • Pick up truck anyway
  • Pick of Lori and Graeme
  • Fail to get truck up street in front of Ivana's old house
  • Shovel street and spread sand on it (half a block)
  • Snow continues to fall heavily
  • Load truck with the help of Ivana, Lori, Graeme, Ivan (Ivana's dad), Jim and Christine
  • Snow covers street again
  • Ivana's idiot ex refuses to bring kids back early before streets get too hazardous
  • Jim and Christine go to retrieve kids safely in their 4WD
  • Finish loading truck with help of the remaining help (two ~50 Kg elf-women, a man with one hand, and a 76 year old man)
  • Drive 1-ton cube van in snow to North Van, where there is even more snow.
  • Slip in snow on way and clip curb on one corner (think nothing of it)
  • Mountain Highway exit is littered with cars that couldn't make it up hill
  • Take long way around.
  • Unload truck and go back for more.
  • Hill at Ivana's old place is impassible again
  • Make two failed attempts at getting up hill
  • Go around block to get running start at hill from the other side even though there are cars parked on either side of the road and barely enough room for big truck
  • Make two failed attempts at getting up hill
  • Get really pissed off and take really long running start
  • Make it up hill
  • Discover that clipping curb has blown out one of the rear tyres
  • Be glad about buying insurance
  • Load truck again with help of elf-girls, one-handed man and old man
  • Drive truck back across town worrying about only having one good tyre on one side but too damned cold and pissed off to care
  • Eat pizza
  • Unload truck again
  • Drive Lori and Graeme back into town in truck
  • Drive around for half an hour in truck looking for a freaking gas-station that sells diesel
  • Drop off truck
  • Scrape ice and snow off car and drive home
That's just a glossed over version of the day, and that was only one day in what has been a long ordeal. I hate moving. Let alone a disorganized move.

I'm dying to work on something creative. I want to get out and take some pictures. There is a beautiful creek just across the street from the new place that I'd love to take pictures of in the snow but right now all I can do is rush past it on the way to the bus in the morning to get to work and on the way back again to go move more things and unpack. I hate this. I hate losing things in the morning because nothing has a place yet. I'm sick of lugging boxes. I'm sick of wading around boxes.

I need to get things organized. I need to establish a routine. I need to get my camera hooked up. I need to get my easel set up. I need to go to a pub.

Moving

Ohmygod, that sounds like the worst move ever! Poor Michael! *hug*
I cannot stand living out of boxes either. Usually within 48 hours of moving I have everything unpacked even if I stay up all night to do it (but I am kinda weird like that).

Ah... the weather certainly is beautiful isn't it?...

... And then as real life kicks in, the romanticism dies. T_T

If I ever have to do the moving thing, I know for sure that I have way too much stuff to pack. So I've pondered the idea of moving just as an excuse to throw out stuff that I don't need... nah... I'm a packrat and I like my stuff. ~_~*
