I went for the longest walk since I was in London four years ago. It took an hour to walk here, all up-hill, from home. Kerrisdale is badly named, BTW. "Dale" means valley, and it's on the crest of a ridge. My original intention was to also walk back, but it was more than my post-covid endurance is ready for. I bused 2/3 of the way back and just walked the last 20 minutes home. My fitness took a big hit with the original-recipe covid I brought home from London. Last spring's attempt to exercise my way back was harder than expected and left me feeling pretty defeated, and I gave up for a while. It still irks the snot out me that literally the day before I got sick I happily waked for 10 hours, including up and down ~30 storeys worth of stairs to the dome of St. Paul's and walking from the river to the top of Greenwich hill. I'm still overestimating what I can currently do and it is alternately depressing and anxiety-inducing. I spent more time this morning psyching up for today's walk than actually walking. Ultimately, though, I won't get back in shape by lamenting the set-back and fretting about where I'm at. via Instagram
