Royally Screwed

OK, this is my official call for moving help. Because the queen will be arriving Sunday evening and I want to get though the move in the morning so avoid the influx of royal-watchers and protesters that are bound to show up, not to mention the street closures that are bound to happen.

Meet at the new apartment, #14 - 1201 W. Georgia St. (heritage building at the northwest corner of Bute and Georgia) at 9:00 am. My buzzer is 26 (I think). My cell phone is 604-788-9336. I will not be wired until Monday so don't count on IM-ing or e-mailing me over the weekend. I will be at the Nicole/Jenn/Seb housewarming Saturday night.

The plan is as follows:

9:00 a.m.	Meet at new apartment
9:30 a.m.	I will take 4 people in the Wonder Wagon to pick up the truck in North Van, three of them and I will go to the house in the truck and one will come back with the car to get four more.
10:30 a.m.	Everyone should be at the house and the loading of the truck will take place. It shouldn't take too long, worst case I'll say an hour and half, and then back into town to unload.
12:30 p.m.	Hopefully find somewhere reasonably close to the apartment to put the truck and start unloading. This is the part I'm worried about.
2:00 p.m.	Should have the truck unloaded and someone can follow me back to North Van in the wagon and I'll return the truck. Everyone else can hang, drink beer and order the pizzas.
3:00 p.m.	All done. Now I can have some beer and pizza, too.
(insert general goofing off, maybe a little unpacking, watching the cats sniff everything, and stuff like that here)
9:00 p.m.	Walk over to Skank to get utterly faced because I have Monday off.

Dear Michael:

We are doing a documentary on Goths in Vancouver. We are going to speak to Karen Burda of Langara College because she's written about Gothic and Horror in popular culture.

However, we have no Goths to talk to. This is very short notice, but do you know anyone who may step forward for an interview. We are looking especially for super articulate individuals who take being Goth seriously.

We use humour in our show, but we have no intention being judgmental or making fun of the scene. However, we do have misconceptions and questions.

I was interviewed by Karen for her article. This would be for the programme "Out There". I've called and talked to JJ's co-host Alex and dropped Isaac's, Daevina's (he had a hard time with "Maleficent" lol), and Kim's names and mentioned I've put the word out with some other scenesters. They know I gave out the number so any of you can call directly or go through me, whatever you prefer. From the sounds of it they will be checking out Sanctuary this Sunday as part of their background research.

You want to talk about "supporting the scene"? How about positive exposure on national radio!!

O.K. figure this one out. Telus called me Wednesday to tell me, "Oh, we can hook your phone up Friday. You don't have to wait until Monday." "Goody!" sez I. So this evening I am at the new apartment and try the phone. Sure enough it is working. langsuir can verify - I spoke to him. Then I went to Home Depot with bdallaway to get window screens, a shelf and a couple other little things. When I got back the phone was dead. It seems that someone decided that letting me have my phone early was somehow a bad thing. I'll call the service line tomorrow and see what the Hell is going on, although I suspect the only problem is miscommunication and incompetence. *sigh*
