Those mountains...

Not a very good picutre, but it does give a good sense of how Vancouver is sitting on the edge of 2,500 Km of mountainous wilderness...

The other sides of Vancouver

The mountains are the spectacular bit, so you never see images of the other sides of Vancouver:


Looking south toward the U.S. across Richmond, South Delta, and White Rock. The tree-covered penninsula centre-frame is Point Roberts, a part of Washington State.


Looking west over the residential part of Vancouver. In the far distance, across the water, is Vancouver Island. Beyond that the next stop is Japan.

It's annoying and awkward. There is barely enough room to walk around the asbestos shack. If you are carrying something, like taking out the garbage, it is even more awkward.
