Holy *$%@

Here I am whining about needing a new server and not being able to afford it because of the massive damage inflicted on my credit cards over the course of 2001 and 2002 and a loan from the Bank of Mom. Basically I'm just getting my head above water now, and this being the first time there has been any breathing room on my credit cards in over two years I've been hesitant to use that against a new server. Well, I was just reminded today that the company offers loans of up to $2000 interest free (that beats the *&^$ out of credit card interest!) for the purchase of computer equipment. Not only can I get a new box, I can get what I actually want rather than picking up something half-assed or used. Woohoo!

It's Over!

I was just checking my live stats and noticed that hits for my one remaining hosting client had trailed off dramatically today. I'd given them notice two months ago that I was going to cut them off at the end of December. After seeing how the hits pummetted early this morning I did an nslookup and sure enough, the A record for the site doesn't point at me anymore and they have a spiffy new website (about time too, the one I was hosting was designed in 1998). So that's it. My computer is wholly mine again!

That officially puts to rest my consulting and development business. No more contracts. No more $15,000 one month, $1,500 the next. No more "just one little change". No more working when I get home from work.
