I spent the whole damn day moving my desk out of the den to what was the dining room. Elaine's desk is in the living room. The dining room table is disassembled and in the sewing-room/guest room, and the dining room chairs are just stacked in the living room. The whole effort took over seven hours. Below is a photohoop of taken from the living room after the dining room was disassembled and Elaine's desk had already been moved into the living room.

At this point I've yet to disconnect the computers, clear the desk, remove the hutch, move the lot of it, run a cable from the phone jack in the guest room and string a network cable across the floor to connect Elaine. The pictures were taken around 2:30 p.m. with five more hours work to be done.

While all this was going on at some point a notice was slid under our door that at some point next week someone from a rod iron company will be around to measure the balcony rails. implying of course that there are plans to replace the railings. The flashing and deck paint that took two months to do covers the anchor point for the centre of the railing. The only way to remove the rail is to tear up the work that took all of September and half of October to get finished.
