New Lens

My new lens arrived yesterday. Bigger, blacker, and with more doom. Direct from Amityville, New York.

Above are full-frame resizes of images made with the old lens at full zoom (45mm) and the new lens at full zoom (150mm). This construction site is at the far end of the block, about 90 metres away.

These are crops from the first two images without resizing to show the detail at full resolution.

Next items on the list are a fish-eye lens and a more light-sensitive lens in the same general zoom range as my old lens. Unless I happen across screaming bargains like I did with this lens none of that is going to happen any time soon. This new lens will be awesome for live music, fashion shows and weddings: I can stay further back, collect more light, use the flash more effectively, and achieve shallower depth of field. I'll be trying it out at Sanctuary tomorrow night.

A couple of pictures from before the show last Thursday:

It's true: [livejournal.com profile] valerian is so gothy, bats hover over her head.
