Nothing Yet

No news about the lead in Wellington yesterday. I'm not surprised by this since I was told on what was a Friday afternoon just before a summer long weekend that HR would be setting up a telephone interview. I can't imagine that being on the top of anyone's list first thing back from a long weekend. In fact, if it were me, I'd have this week booked off as vacation. I just hope this doesn't fizzle off in limbo like the lead in Mississauga at Christmas. I can only assume they found someone local. That's the big catch-22 of applying for out-of-town jobs: you can't afford to move without a job lined up, and you can't line up a job unless you've already moved. Adding immigration hassles into the mix makes it that much more difficult, so while I'd like this pan out for a variety of reasons, I'm not betting on it.

The job in Wellington just called. My telephone interview is tonight at 7 p.m. (4 p.m. Wednesday, NZ time).

Interviewed

I just finished my interview - it went well. The person I'll be replacing is also an immigrant (Scottish) and said she had no problems at all. I double checked my points with NZ Immigration and have more than enough, and it helps that the job is outside Auckland. The job sounds interesting, they have a very complex Notes/Domino environment that should keep me from getting bored any time soon. The complexity of the environment also says lots of good things to me about the longevity of the job - they won't be migrating away any time soon. This is very real, folks. They've got someone on contract for the next three months so that puts the outside time frame for starting at about two months. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] evilyn13, but I might not be around for your birthday.
