I just saw some promotional material sent out by the 2010 Olympic committee hyping the "unprecedented opportunity" for Canadian businesses to get the attention of the world. Funny, I would think the 1988 winter Olympics in Calgary, the 1986 World Exposition here in Vancouver, the 1976 summer Olympics in Montréal, and the 1967 World Exposition in Montréal would count as precedents.

I received my last T4 today and picked up the tax software from the post office on Saturday. I now have everthing necessary to start working on my much-dreaded 2005 taxes. Hopefully this won't take all week and hopefully there will be some money left at the end of it all. I've been conservative about how much I've been holding back for taxes, so I'm hopeful, but it ain't over until I get to the bottom line.

OK, so it was a month ago, but I was just thinking about the Asian Excellence Awards and wondering what happened to eastern Russia and all the "-stan" countries, the Indian sub-continent (although one posthumous award was given to an Indian), and the middle east? Last time I looked there were a just a few people of Jewish descent in the American entertainment industry. Is Israel not in Asia anymore? There are also quite a few popular Arabian-descended people like Paula Abdul, Shakira, Jamie Farr, Paul Anka, and Salma Hayek to name a few. When did Asia become just China and Japan?
