The Daily Colonist, August 25, 1914
Aug. 25th, 2014 09:02 am#dailycolonist1914 - News out of Victoria, British Columbia, 100 years ago today. Once again, the most interesting stuff is not in the headlines, but in the a couple of tiny "filler" stories:
- Mystery aviator aiding French turns out to be a British girl, currently being held by France until her parents can come get her. Seriously!
- Assassination attempt against Sir Wilfrid Laurier [the guy on the $5 bill, who is opposition leader at the time]
- Another hint of the horrors to come: French chemical warfare testing successfully kills 30 sheep from detonation 200 feet away.
