I can't wait until I get my Blackberry from work. Then I'll be able to read and write real time while I am commuting. E-mail, Livejournal (I've tried LJ in a text-only browser: it degrades extraordinarily gracefully), Yahoo messenger even has a client for the Blackberry. How fun is that? The best thing is the whole point of having it is to play with it so I can support the people who actually need the things. I love it when I get to goof around with cool stuff just to be able to see what can be done with it. I'm good at it. When I was at SFU and had a work-study job taking care of the video edit suites I managed to create all sorts of things that the equipment wasn't supposed to be able to do, including computer and "conventional" animation with the 1Mb RAM, 12 Khz 286 (this was 1990) with the frame grabber and the editing deck that "theoretically" didn't have single-frame accuracy. That got me another job pulling rabbits out of hats for Western Front and Video Inn. I loved the technology, but the raging flakes that called themselves "video artists" got on my nerves.
Q: How many lesbians does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: 11 - One to change the lighbulb and ten to make the documentary.

Q: How many gay men does it take to make a documentary?
A: 2 - one to hold the camera sideways while the other mastrubates.

Q: How many academics does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: 12 - One to change the lighbulb, one to ramble on about the post-colonial socio-ecomonic implications of non-renewable industrial methodolgies in the manufacture, distribution and consumption of artifical illumination, and 10 more to make the documentary.
There were other jokes, but they aren't coming to mind at the moment.
