I like the colour and the focus of the background but with regards to composition I think the image is a little unbalanced. Angle of the horse (facing to its left ,our right) is a little off kilter combined with the unfocused background pulls attention to the right side of the frame. The composition may work a little better if the focus depth of feild was changed and more attention was taken off the horse and put to the background or if the shot was taken from the other side of the horse. Also - the light of the yard is more flattering than the light of the horses face - I think this is caused by the shadow of the photographer (you) reflecting off the horses face.
What I might to in this case is take one large step back , and a step to the right, use a zoom lens to re-establish the ECU but not be in the way of the natural lighting. and shoot the horse to the left of the picture facing right.
