When it was still new. Built in 1909, this photo was taken 191?.

I really like the ak-ak sitting out front on Georgia St. In Duncan, like many west-coast towns, the old air-raid sirens were used to call the volunteer fire department. The picture really brought it home what those sirens were *really* installed for.

Move right on in there .. pretty soon all the Van Goths will consume that building .. and I will finally have a roof where I will be able to summon Gozer the Gozarian. Now if only I could find a Keymaster and A Gatekeeper.

Those pictures are really cool. I find it really depressing/amazing to see how much Vancouver has changed over such a short amount of time.

Yeah

It was really something sorting through the archives. I did a search on "Georgia" and sifted through the pictures for these. There were amazing pictures of the court house/VAG being built in 1912 and other things like that. There was one really bizarre one of a woman sitting in a carriage in a parade with a banner "Vancouver's First Baby" - the woman, 21 years old in the photo, was the first white person born in Vancouver. The picture was only from the 1890's. All of this around us was carved out a forest in hardly more than one long lifetime.

As long as I get to sleep with Sigourney Weaver, I'll be the keymaster. I'm fresh out of Hell-hounds, but I do have a Hell-cat:
