I found myself in a bit of research-y kind of mood tonight at did a little fact checking. Turns out I wasn't quite right on the red leaf thing. It wasn't a single red leaf between blue bars but rather the sprig of three red leaves you find on the shield in the coat of arms.

I was however essentially right about this. As these comments from the structural engineer who designed the towers show. I was incorrect on the details of the truck bomb (both my date and placement are incorrect) and incorrect about the structural importance of the central core, but the fact that the relatively weak floors were integral to the structural integrity of the towers and their collapse sucking the building in on itself was absolutely right. Why was I able to see this as they were falling but people are still imagining surreptitiously planted bombs, particle beams, aliens and gobs of other utter fucking nonsense?
