Holy fuck! I was reading that article and every so often I would stop, and make sure I hadn't missed the part where they announced that they were talking about the US now. That's just nuts. I mean, I knew the parallels existed, but not nearly to the depth that they are there.

thanx for sharing.

... and thank frickin' god for that!

*rolls around gleefully in a big pile of Canadian-ness*

- Valerian (who wants to see you make the Canadian flag's maple leaf into a hammer and sickle, just to prod Nimrod into responding)

That's just one article

There are others out there. Not that much interpretation is needed. Just look at these Nazi propaganda posters (http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/posters2.htm). Most of the slogans are fighteningly familiar:

"The Reich will never be destroyed if you are united and loyal."
"Health, child protection, fighting poverty, aiding travellers, community, helping mothers: These are the tasks of the National Socialist People's Charity. Become a member!"
"All classes vote on 29 March for freedom, peace and construction."
"Hitler is building. Help him. Buy German goods."
"Through military will to military strength."
"We stand for honor and the Fatherland. Are you thinking of us?"
"Germany is free!"
"Our Flags are Victory."

Life is a cabaret.

The plus side, of course, is the equivalency of New York today to Berlin in the 1930's.
