It was, considering the humidity, 40 degrees Celsius today. It is just too freaking hot to do anything. Elisabeth's front room has been nicknamed "Canada" because it is the only air-conditioned room and we poor Canadians have been languishing in here with the air-conditioner turned up to "Inuvik". Our plans of shopping in Montclair have fallen by the wayside. Just venturing out in the evening to get a meal is uncomfortable. Tomorrow it is supposed to cool off to the low to mid thirties so we may venture back into the city to spend the day in a nice air-conditioned museum.

Suffice to say this is the last time I am going to schedule a vacation based on a show-tune. I do not like New York in June! Next time we come out it will be during any season *but* summer.

That said, the trip has mostly been fun so far. I'm looking forward to going to the Hamptons this weekend (in fact it just fun to say that). Although, spend a weekend at my "roommate's" gay uncle's country house smacks dangerously of "Withnail and I" - watch me end up wandering around with plastic bags for shoes...

Saturday were going to go by the gallery that represents Odd Nerdrum - I hope I'll get to see some of his work close up.

I could have, maybe should have, spent a week in the Metropolitan. It was amazing to see Ingres paintings close up and to real Classical sculptures. I wish I had brought a sketchbook so I could have done some studies directly from the sculpture.

Going to see Voltaire at CBGBs was a hoot. It was a shame something in there (probably a mold growing on decades of spilled booze) didn't agree with Elaine's sinuses. We left almost immediately after the show.

Shopping-wise I picked up a new pair of boots and a couple of very cool shirts, one of which is ideal for Sin City.

Overall I'd have to say the trip has been a success. I am bristling with ideas and inspiration and itching to get back to start on things.
