Wow! That really something. Do you know how high it was - I'm guessing about 150 feet from the people around the base. Amazing.

It was about 5 stories tall , built slowly over the week - this was the last sunset it would ever see before it was engulfed in flame that night in the burning cerimony.

A fascinating peice , people from all over would come and honor their lost loved ones/themselves by placing mesages, love letters , memoirs of dishonor , photographs or whatever they wanted to release - all over the temple

It was a truly emotionally uplifting peice when it burned.

the heat would create gigantic whirlwhinds of wind and sand (the 'ancestors') wich would be 'released' from the pyre and blow off into the desert

There was a tragic death at Burning Man this year and the Girl was honored as her veil burned in the temple - her vail was placed there by some of my travel companions.
