RTFM ... the battlecry of tech support

Just make sure that there is a clearly written manual

I hear RTFM just as often as I read a poorly written tutorial
were the techwriter has NO IDEA where who his target reader is
or assumes they know everything the writer knows.

Other times I think that these writers just get off on displaying their technological superiority

Case in point - I have looked up tutorials in graphic software
wich use advanced photoshop skills and concepts and require advanced photoshop knowlege to understand the terminology just to do a entry level process.

Kind of like a Gormet chef telling a kid how to make a PB+J sandwich by what knife to use , what temperature to set the oven
what slicing procedure for the bread , how to bake the bread , what scouping motion to use in the PB and what formulation of jam to use.

So I think my response to RTFM is RWTFM

re-write the fuckin manual

heh... great "Beetlejuice" reference...

I think this cartoon applies equally well to many MCSE/MCSA's... wouldn't want to actually *know* the product/technology you are supporting...
