I have this strange addiction to watching one of those sites (there are lots of them) that reposts the last (n) pictures posted to LJ. Mostly what gets posted is crap - teenagers taking pictures of their new haircut in the mirror, Microsoft Paint stick-men, community banners, quiz results, etc. - but every so often something is hilarious or just plain brilliant. Lately there have been a lot of pictures of Hurricane Frances and protests in New York which seem to be the zeitgeist of LJ right now. It's the gems buried in the sand that keep me coming back. Here's some of the stuff that caught my eye:
A couple of pop-culture jokes:
.
A few old movie stills screaming to be made into icons:
Where are you going to watch these? I'd also suggest the recently added page on deviantart its a great way to find some good stuff for your favorites list. :o)
I've been going to is here: http://www.perturb.org/lj_images.php
There are a million other ones out there as well. Every time I post a picture I get about two dozen hits in the first minute or so from various people running the same script.
The deviantART latest page is so painful I don't go to it often. Most of the time half the pictures don't load. DeviantART is a cool idea, but I wish they would spend less time breaking things trying to tweak the "community" features and spend more time getting the art to display reliably.
yeah i can agree with you on that, they are very problematic in their thumbnails and uploading stuff. not to mention the heavy influx of all the shittly drawn anime.
