I've got my photography gig tonight that doesn't happen until 7:00. It's in the same building as work so there is utterly no point going home and coming back. I probably wouldn't even make it. Fortunately there is an Irish Pub across the street so I can kill some time with a pint of Kilkenney (it's too muggy out for Guinness) and a plate of bangers and mash.

I'll head back to the office when I'm done and do some work on my website. I need to start getting my store set up.

For a programmer, I spent quite a bit of time outside today. Work has set up a web cam in one of the local parks to monitor parking and because I am thre "web guy" I've ended up doing most of the work. The vendor deserves to be shot. They physically installed the camera without any testing first. It's a new model from Sony and the v1.0 BIOS on the camera was buggy as a rotten log. I couldn't even set the time and it had a memory leak that killed the ftp client after about 36 hours. Any attempt to remote reboot hung the camera. I updated to the v1.22 BIOS (which required a physical connection) and everything is tickety-boo now.

Strictly speaking I should have had nothing to do with the hardware. My job (and miserable pay rate) is strictly as an inside-worker web monkey. I'm not "trained" to be up on a ladder outside and about a zillion CUPE rules have been broken. My job reevaluation needs to happen PDQ. I'm tired of doing a $40/hr. job for $25.

eep.

I suppose the next time something like this comes along you could lie and say "hmmm, wish I knew how to fix that for you...", but I know you, and I know you won't do it. I am the same. I just can't sit by and watch something get totally botched when I know exactly how to remedy it (which was ultimately my downfall, and kept me in picture framing for over a decade!). :P

Damn our work ethics! Damn them all!!

LOL

It is never too muggy for a pint of Guinness. Every single moment of any day is perfect for a Guinness.

Words of an alcoholic or just a man who knows what he likes? You decide.

Although you can't be faulted because at least your second choice redeems you.
