Two Conversations Overheard on the Skytrain

Conversation #1 - Overheard about two weeks ago.

[ Young guy with a death-hawk talking on his cell phone ] "Sanctuary? Why would you want to go to Sanctuary? They don't even have a dress code anymore. Sin City is much better. Ordinary people in regular clothes show up at Sanctuary."

Conversation #2 - Overheard last night

[Two English guys, mid-to-late 20's] "Sin City is OK, but there is another night on Fridays at the Lotus that is much better - same music and attitude but you don't have to do the clothes."

From the rest of conversation #1 I gathered that it was a "what do you want to do for your 19th birthday" planning session. I didn't recognize the guy so I'm guessing he is very, very new and I'm not surprised there may be myths out there about what Skank was like when he was *9*.

As for the #2 guys, for some people showing up to dance *is* the point. Fetish aside, the music at Sin is radically different than most everything else that's out there and unlike some of the other nights in out scene that suffer from inconsistent attendance you are *guaranteed* a high-energy, full-house crowd at Sin. There are people who show up just for that. More power to them.

.... annnnd that's a perfect example of there not being any possible way to please alla the people alla the time. What works for some, doesn't for others, and that's just the way it is. One thing I do personally draw out of the two comments is some pleasure that we've been able at the very least offer -options- (mostly good, I like to think!) for people out there!!!
