What the hell is up with my life lately?

I swear, just a few weeks ago I was looking for a rope, now it is flying along in the most amazing ways. Once again I was out until the wee hours, drinking and flirting. There is a twinge of guilt because Ivana has been phoning me again lately. She had definite long-term marriage material type potential and I would have jumped all over that opportunity just a couple months ago. But then, after being sent on my merry way by her no less than thrice I resigned myself to inconsolable bachelorhood. At first it was miserable, but now it has become a festival of nihilism. I was miserable and spent several weeks easing in to the recurring realisation that the white picket fence moves away from me faster than I can approach it. That, and armed with the statistical reality that I am more than half way to dead as far as the men in my family go I resolved to have some fun. Like the old song says, "If that's all there is, then break out the booze and let's have a ball."

And what the hell, right now, I'm loving it. My life:

• "Give me another gin and tonic."
• "I'm sorry. What was your name again? Gee, you're cute!"
• "I'll have another steak, please."
• "Got a light?"
• "Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me."
• "I'm sorry. You seem to have mistaken me for someone who gives as fuck."

Oh, yeah. And happy Billionth to the UNIX box just to my right. Heh.

I'm happy being with me, except I'm a bit of a nag. I wish I would just shut up and get off my back every once in a while. It's like nothing I ever do is good enough for me. But, hey, I can cook and the sex is good so I keep me around.
