"Today's" news out of Victoria 100 years ago has some interesting tidbits:
- Belgians down one of Germany's largest Zeppelins using "an especially designed gun for aircraft."
- The dehumanization and villifacation of the Germans continues with a story about the summary execution of two French teenagers.\240
- Proof positive that the fall of the Empire is nigh: all organized cricket matches in Victoria are suspended.
- The Daughters of the Empire take out a full-page ad for a fund-raiser to outfit a hospital ship.
- A truely bizarre article in the women's section \240about how "the Indian tribes of the province" are really good, law-abiding citizens as long as they are not given alcohol,\240illustrating the casual and commonplace racism of the time.
