The Daily Colonist, September 23, 1914
Sep. 23rd, 2014 09:02 am#dailycolonist1914 - News out of Victoria, British Columbia, 100 years ago today.
The articles and ads that caught my eye today:
- Canadians keen to be dispatched to front [It's all fun and games until you lose and eye, and maybe half your face, and lie rotting in a ditch.]
- Serbian army captures Sarajevo (where this all started with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand less than two months ago.)
- Italian saber-rattling
- [Meanwhile, on the moon] British cruiser Pegasus is trapped in the harbour of Zanzibar [a name still synonymous with, "far away."]
- Smart shoes, sweaters for fall, and good advice in today's ads.
