Just a quick note because now I am completely exhausted. I just saw "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and, despite the opinions of apparently everyone else on the planet, it sucked. There go several hours of my life that would have been better spent sleeping.

WTF...what sucked about it? What did you want it to be like? Bah.

Well, for one, the pacing was awful. Sure they had to leave things out from the book for the sake of condensing the story, but they didn't *condense* they just cut abruptly over pages you could practially see being ripped out. The movie completely depended on one having read the book. Most of the acting was stilted. And other than the spectacle of the quiddich match it was positively boring as a movie.

The characters were completely flat. There was nothing in the movie to draw one into any of the characters at all, there was nothing to draw one into the mystery of the stone, no support for what little plot the book had in the first place. If I hadn't actually read the book and been able to fill in the blanks I probably would have fallen asleep or walked out. As it was it managed to rate an "OK", but that's it.

Eh, I see your point but I still loved it. Doesn't compare to the book of course. The Quidditch match was fabulous.
You had to like the baby dragon Norbert, c'mon! :)

I am glad someone else agrees with me, and you are one hundred percent right, the only cool thing about the movie was the Quiddich mach.
