Eighties Goof

OK, my mother e-mailed this scan to me this morning for a laugh. This is from my hometown paper. This would have been New Year's Day 1986. I'm about to dive into ocean with a bunch of other idiots. That haircut looked a hell of a lot better "big". The shirt and "jams" are what I used to wear when I was running my pedi-cab. My only excuse for the 70's aviator glasses is I couldn't afford new frames. I remember that I forgot to take the damn things off before jumping in the water (I was hung over) and they fell off. My friend Gavin and I stayed in the ice cold water for quite a long time taking turns diving down to the bottom and feeling around for the damn things. Gavin eventually found them. Ever spent 10 minutes in 5 °C water without a wetsuit? I don't recommend it.

What I don't remember is what the hell I was thinking about making that freakishly goofy face.

not that i haven't been foolish enough to do this sort of thing in the past, but i made DAMN sure that there was no one with a camera available to haunt me with proof in later years! (other than the videocamera incident, but i'm fairly sure that the tape was destroyed... i hope...)
