Well, I've posted a few rants about government inefficiency and waste over the years (usually around tax time). I've been of the opinion for years that altogether too much money is absolutely wasted on fat-assed civil "servants" (what a misnomer!). Well, today the provincial government is axing thousands of them. Over 11,000 - about 1 in 3 provincial employees - are slated for pink slips over the next three years and the first lot go today. It's about time.

I am with you on this one..

So many people that I know are all upset about this. Not me. I am a hard core libertarian so of course I believe in minimalist government. It is actually surprising to me that the liberal party (which was in its inception libertarian) which has traditionally been a bunch of weak willed ninnies, with pseudo socialist policies, is following a course of action, though unpopular, actually in line with the best interests of Canadians.

Most people are so poorly educated in economics that all they can see is the loss of unnecessary jobs, and anti-union practices. They don't see how lowered taxes, reduction in government, and lowing the bar for new business can possibly help us in five years. I have always thought that basic economics should be a required high school course. It would do an awful lot to alleviate the damages that polictical misconceptions can cause in the hands of an uninformed electorate.

I for the most part have always though that liberal policies were weak, Needless to say, I have never voted liberal. However, I actaully find myself with a grudging respect for the current regime , and I appreaciate the relief I see on my taxes. The reduction in my tax alone has allowed me to hire an extra person from time to time!

Yay for a government that understands that planning for the future often hurts in the shor term, and isn't scared to take a chance...

Yay for the elimination of waste, reduced taxes, and forcing a bunch of unskilled bureaucrats to go back into the work force, and maybe aquire some skills!
Yay for a government that is trying to create universal net access, profitable industries, and a strong secondary economy. Yay for a government that refuses to accredit questionable schools that are little more than a scam played on the unemployed. Yay for government that DOESN'T want to make running a business a living hell.

Yay!

Yay for cold pizza first thing in the morning!

Yes, absolutely. I didn't have time to write it all out myself this morning.
