All of my family are skating freaks, so I've come to know far too much about the sport without ever intending to have done so. I sit in on it every now and again. Anyway, we're all livid over here. I'm pretty pissed, and I don't really care about the Olympics (on paper at least). I figure we should boycott. ;)

Kinda sad when corruption to this degree is more or viewed as being par for the course, business as usual.

If anyone really expected the judges to be impartial there wouldn't be so many of them, each from a different country. The presumption of bias is built right into the system.

True, that. My brother and I were trying to come up with an impartial country from which judges could be pooled. Switzerland isn't exactly known for its figure skating...

Goddamn, but they handled it gracefully. David had a point, though, when he said that if he was going to let this sort of thing get to him, he would've done speed skating, where it's only time that counts.
