X: So, Michael, how was your day?
M: It sucked royal monkey balls?
X: Why "royal" monkey balls?
M: Well, as you know, the monkey with the most balls generally ends up being the one in charge, ergo royal monkey balls are much larger and more pendulous than just plain monkey balls.

Still, though, eleven and a half months on the job and this is the first time I have had a really crappy day. So, all in all, my job does rock.

I bought a little UPS today. No more dead website when the fuse blows accidentally (I say "the" because there is only one 15 amp circut for all three rooms, the bathroom and the hall. I found out the hard way that I am pushing it already.) Now, rather than in improper shutdown the server and connection stays alive more than long enough for me to get to the breaker, and if not it goes into hibernation so the startup when power is restored happens in about two minutes rather than more than ten minutes. It's a stupid little $100 peice of equipment that makes me feel a lot better. Now I just need two more just like it for the mail server and my workstation, but they aren't mission-critical.
