If the cables snapped in orbit .. would it be possible to Jump at the last second and save youself in when this elevator hit the ground ~ you know .. just like todays skyscraper elevators.
I can imagine the torture of listening to elevator music for 12 seconds .. imagine listening to it for 2 hours ....
What they should do is extend a firemans pole down this shaft imagine the rush - if the fricton doesn't rip your hands off or burn you up
