Another cup of coffee. And while I have joked that these exercises are devoid of critical content, they are not. I only paint from photos old enough to be in the public domain in Canada, from my own photographs, or from photographs I have explicit permission to use. Even with things that are only exercises I am being consciously antithetical to the bulk theft involved in generative "AI" (which, while artificial, has no intelligence.) That's not knee-jerk reactionism, either. Years ago I did a lot of playing around with creating tensor models of my own work and artwork in the public domain in Matlab to apply style transfers to my own photography. I also have to contend with unscrupulous generative image modelling bots bogging down the collections website of the art gallery I work for as well as my own website archive of the decades I spent as a nightclub photographer. #painting #process #acrylicpainting
