Mediaeval Birthday Party

The Cake (Ivana baked it, I did the "sculpting")

Goblets, a princess, a castle and a reptoid dragon.

DJ Anathema and I did facepainting; magic wands were constructed; Ivana read a tale of knights, ogres and a cowardly warhorse; there was a quest at the end of which a dragon was slain with magical golden orbs and everyone got a some of its treasure in the pouches I sewed... Much fun was had by all and many pictures were taken. More later.

The highlight for me was the "discovery" of the dragon's secret lair. When the person dressed as the dragon burst out the kids divided into two groups instantly: two thirds or so rushed in to attack the dragon with their magical golden orbs (baloons) and the about one third ran away. It was totally hilarious. It made me think of a line in "Swords of a Thousand Men" by Tenpole Tudor:

"When the knights come along at the end of the day / Some are half alive and some have run away."
