Whinging

I did not sleep well last night. Fortunately I went to bed early so I'm not exhausted today, but still... Whatever it is that I caught manifested itself yesterday as a really nasty ache in my shins, which overnight migrated to my back. This is in addition to the sore throat that has been around since Friday. I am decidedly uncomfortable.

I had completely messed up dreams last night. Nothing terribly sensible. In fact, going with the "making sense of random signal" theory, I wasn't. Nor could I get a handle on things and get something lucid going on.

And in other whinges and gripes, I'm getting fed up with the various photography communities I've been watching here. "Here's a shot of my dog picking his nose", "I dropped the camera and this is what I got", "This my friend Dave drinking beer" type photos are bad enough, but for fuck's sake, can't they at least be in focus and well composed? Don't people know when their shit is shit? It's one thing to post a bad photo and say, "I was trying this. It didn't work. Can somebody tell me what went wrong?" But the amount of pure shit that gets posted as if it is the shit is beginning to annoy me. Especially then the same crappy photo is crossposted in half a douzen communities and I have to look at it repeating on my friends page.

I'm wondering something: is there a way to censor out certain people from a community on your friends page, that is assuming that the same crappy pix are from the same people?

Hmmm...

You can block certain users from being able to leave comments, I know that. I wonder if you can make some users "invisible" - not that it would do a whole lot of good, there seems to be an endless supply of fresh mediocrity.

well that sux.

hmmmm... can't think of any other ideas, but I'll try to think of more ideas to help you avoid mediocrity...

I think it is more effective to have decent photographers on my friends list direct, like you, [livejournal.com profile] diversify and [livejournal.com profile] edbook as three examples.

'But I have to post my crappy pictures and pretend that they
are good .. otherwise I will have to face stupid reality and
accept that that sales guy at future Shop swindled me when he convinced me I would work for National Geographic one day if I bought this $200 digital camera'

I have a digial camera, I do not post pictures from it because
I find the colour is a little washed, The zoom sux , I have no
control of the lens angle , focus , apeture - or depth of field of the camera. It is a cool thing to have but it is by no means an artists tool and although the images are acceptable -
I am unhappy with the quality of the images and so I will not post them as 'my work' (unless I photoshop the hell out of them first-but then I am not a photographer - I'm a designer)

Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD!

BTW -just HOW MANY FRICKEN PICTURES OF CATS ARE WE GOING TO SEE ANYWAY?

I personally LOVE the pictures of Tharsis...

Besides, Tharis rules, he even gave me my own holiday Ubermas which of course kicks ass!

That's the day we celebrate St. Über, patron saint of kicking-ass by burning Uber-incense and eating turkey (or lizard).

Well, that explains why you haven't accepted Tharsis as the messiah.

If I try really hard I can get one of my toes in my nose. Other than the rampant Dr. Seussiness of it, I can't think of one good reason why I should.

Consider it as practice to freeing yourself from
the need to have a girlfriend (...just..a..little..further..)

AH, but that is where children enter favourably into the equation. Gross stuff in the context of entertaining the kids becomes a *good* thing ;-)
