Canadian flag continued

Further to my Canadian flag rant here are images of some of the things I mentioned:

My variation:


The particular shade of green is lifted from the Ontario coat of arms used for their provincial flag and the blue is from Quebec's flag (and the Union Jack). This would have been a good unifying flag having both the Quebec blue and white and the Ontario green and British blue on the common white field.

i like either the first or last one...the middle one is too toronto maple leafs...ha ha...

I really like the first one, too. I think the "too much like the Britain and America" was a lame reason for nixing it. It would have been a damn good flag. The green leaf is better than all red or all blue, but not a snappy as the original concept.

i agree, i really like the first one...it's funny how few people even know it was a concept...i like the way it contrasts...and it is sharp...too bad for politics and placating the egos of some fanaticists...and in the end it didn't please them anyway...

my folks vacationed in canada just before i was born or not long after. for year i had a little plastic purse that had the canadian flag on it (maybe the seeds of my life as a canadianophile?) anyway- at some point when i was about 8 i coloured the leaf green and the sides blue- your propsed flag! creeeeeeepy...
