The Goth Block Fire Revisted

Restoration of the building began in earnest this week. I've been waking up to the sounds of hammering and crashing as they gut the fire damaged apartments. The fourth floor is still off-limits, of course, but this morning when I went down into the basement to take out the garbage I discovered a few fragments of Nick and Sandi's old place down there:

that's our kitchen cabinets and looks like our mattress, and microwave.

Sigh, it sounds kinda dumb but I had forgotten the extent of what the damage looked like
(it's been a while since I looked at at photos..)

It's weird. Janice took me into the apartment right beside the one that burned (i.e. the one directly above mine on the 4th floor) when we were trying to figure out where the water leaking down my bathroom wall was coming from. That apartment had far less damage than yours. Same with the one right across the hall from the fire. Janice was saying it looks like the fire traveled along the ceiling from the burning apartment straight to your kitchen.

No big suprise there...

As you know from the way I cook, I'm queen of the Hot stuff...maybe the fire was trying to compete with my home made chilli oil!

Seriously, that's a scary thought..."it's coming right for us".
