They said on the radio that a lot of traffic was bailing over the the Second Narrows so it was bad, too. Sounds like you must have gotten out before it got too bad.
Shame for you that there is no place cheap to park on the downtown side and take the Seabus the rest of the way.
You know ... sometimes I feel the need for the freedom that a car provides. To go hit the open road, take and adventure to some secluded spot. and then I look at traffic like this as I wizz past on my bicycle .....
Traffic bad: live close to your favourite things. Road trips good: have a car in the garage for when you want to play. Or if you don't want to pay for insurance and monthly parking, just rent one.
Personally I don't like the hassle of renting so I have my land boat in reserve. Even though I only use my car about once a month (and now even less because Elaine's car is more practical for most things) I'll probably always own a car.
Luckily my car is so small I can turn it around almost anywhere (that's me, in the wee black Pontiac Firefly turned at an angle). If it wasn't for that I'd never had gotten out of that gridlock. Kinda sad that I was sooooo close to being home when I got stuck (like, 10 metres or so)!!
Yeah... why aren't I wizzing arcoss the desert plain with white barely legible subtitles saying "professional driver on a closed course" and other finanacial legal mumbo jumbo? Where is the groovy electronica music and the really hot chick who is supposed to be in my passanger seat. And just WHY can't I drive through a city at night at 400 mph , on roads with no traffic, and never hit a red light?
*phew* O_O
