[livejournal.com profile] uberbabe found this article.

Elaine's unusally extreme inebriation for the amount she drank, the unusual and sudden way she passed out when we got home, and her subsequent very unusual illness the next day match up with this. Sandi suspected this might be the case and now I am convinced.

Of course there is no way to tell who did it, but there is something I can do about it...

I didn't even think of that! Fuck, that does explain it doesn't it. That's fucking harsh!

What are you going to do about it? ~.^?

Go take a look at Gothic BC (http://www.gothic.bc), particularly the photogallery (http://www.gothic.bc/photos).

I get about 300 people a day going to the gallery, mostly to look at Sin City pictures. By next Sin City everyone is going to be very aware of this.

That's a great way to raise awareness about it.

in the last year alone I have had it happen to me about 5 times...
since I can not drink alot to begin with and pretty aware of my limits I was lucky enough to get home safely... scarey world out there though.

The sad thing is, it's happened to a few people we know over the past two years - and it hasn't been limited to women, either. Even the 'safety' of a house party can bring trouble, I have learned. If someone wants to spike a bottle, pitcher, or glass, and they are good at it, they will do it even in close quarters.

All I can say is, I'm glad I wasn't going home alone - I had people I trusted with me. Another woman in my state may have fallen over, passed out, and experienced far worse than I did.

ditto

alert ALL the staff of this..we all tend to watch each others drinks, but the patio is hard to do at times when it's so crowded. It's shitty to get dosed, but I'm glad that there was no "assault" that took place with Elaine- I'm glad you two left when you did, otherwise whomever the sick fuck who did this may have used the opportunity if she left to go to the loo on her own. Creeps who do stuff like that have no qualms about following someone into the loo.

Hoping you both are ok.

I was thinking about that. We always watch everyone's drinks, but as the article said, that isn't foolproof.

Yeah, we're both fine. Luckily I polished off her last drink so she didn't get all of what was put in there. I didn't get nearly as ill as she did, but I weigh 40Kg more than her and unlike her I'm not on any prescription medication. We couldn't figure out why what she drank hit her so unusually hard.

I've been somewhat annoyed at the escalating creep-factor at Sin City, now I am infuriated.

I wonder if that also explains your unusual yucky feeling after sin city too... (http://www.livejournal.com/users/mbarrick/395060.html) particularly since you finished off Elaine's last drink?

It's likely.

Wow!

It MUST have been that last drink. It certainly explains why she was seemingly fine at the club and part way home in the taxi then practically falling over after :-O

Christine was telling me about her experience at Luv-A-Fair one night, about a year ago (? - she can correct me on the time frame here). She suddenly felt woozy, and quickly went home. Apparently she spent the night on the bathroom floor - not exactly a common thing after only a couple of drinks. The common thread here is the sudden lack of muscle control, then consciousness, folowed by a day or two of nausea/vomiting.

Nice.

Moral of the story

Never ever EVER let one's drink out of one's sight. It's a rule of thumb here just because of that. We try to be careful here because of that too.

Those girls were lucky, especially Elaine.

Go kick some ass. *fist*

thats horrible!! whats happening to people these days? I'v always been wary of putting my drink down, I'v had two friends on seperate occations, that had acid slipped into their drink and the other one was GHB, good thing I dont trust people, never can be too paranoid.
