I don't neccisarily think that the problem is with Jesus or the Bible ... I think the problem lies within the verry people who practice these religions.
1: people are sheep - why think if someone else can do your thinking for you ? It is easier not to question
2: people are conformists and need social acceptance - churches are clubs and social events for lazy minded introverts
3: people are competative - "I am more pious than you", "My religion is better than yours" " I am right , you are wrong..so I am stronger"
4: People need to belive in anything - no matter how stupid and they will defent their crutch to the death
I doubt the issue is the incosistancy of the bible that turns Christianity into one of the worst religions out there - It has to do with the fact that it offers easy answers, unquestionable words and blind faith, a social structure based on weakness and fear, and ZERO entry fees/requirements.
It is a religion that carers to the ignorant, stupid and lazy and requires no growth , sacrifice or development in its followers.
I have no issue with a rag-wearing middle eastern man spouting off a gnereal message of love, peace and understanding between people (Jesus/Ghandi)- I do have problems when people pervert those messages and use them to justify hate , war, and ignorance
To further add to Mediavictim's pretty accurate comments, Organised Christianity (and this probably applies to raghead Islam and spendthrift Judaism as well) for the longest while was not so much about religion but rather the world's first totalitarian political system.
It's promsie of a world better than "now" was more than good enough to distract most piss-poor mediaeval peasants and others that wallowed in feudal slavery.
I support any movement that advocates the out-and-out destruction of organised religion. Religious belief should be confined to the privacy of the house and not a public affair. It needs to be cleased from public life.
I have always been a deep admirer of Enver Hoxha and his rabid virtulent, brutal militancy against organised religion in Albania. For all his efforts to wipe-out religion and spiritualist beliefs and mamby-pambyism, his portrait has earnt an honoured place on the wall in our house.
I have no problems with Jesus , he was a liberal Jew against the system , I just hate his fans
