And that's about where my brian is at this morning. Elaine and I, both being evening people by nature, generally have a hard time getting to bed on time to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for when we have to get up for work and this week we've been especially bad. So I would have been tired today under ordinary circumstances.

At slightly before 4:00 a.m. the fire alarm in the hall decided it was time for a new battery. BEEP! I heard the cuckoo clock strike four shortly after the beep. It didn't wake Elaine up so, I my utterly groggy state I decided I could sleep through it as well. BEEP! Ugh. O.K. I should get up an pull the battery out, but then I'd have to get the step-ladder out and that all seems like way to much to do at 4:00 a.m. — I can sleep through this. BEEP! O.K. F^%$ maybe I can't. Muhhhhh. Soooooo tiiiiiired. Cuckoo! BEEP! Crap. I've been (mostly) awake for half an hour. I really must do something about this. Up I get. Out comes the step-ladder. Down comes the alarm. Back to bed. Mrrr? [livejournal.com profile] _jazz_ now thinks it's time to get up and have his saucer of catmilk. *glares at cat* Mrrr? "Shut up, Jazz." Mwaaaar! Now [livejournal.com profile] tharsis thinks it's time to get his minouche. MwaaAAAAâââaar! "Damn it, Tharsis, it's not time to get up yet. Go away." Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Cuckoo! OH, yay! Now it's 5 a.m. How thrilled about that am I? Tharsis and Jazz decide crawling on me will help. Cuckoo! 5:30. I don't remember the clock striking six so I must have managed to fall back to sleep sometime between 5:30 and 6:00. "....lows of minus one. And in the lower mainland scattered showers with highs of plus seven and lows of plus one. Welcome back to 'Music and Company.' I'm Tom Allen and it's 6:18, twelve to the hour in Newfoundland," proclaims the clock-radio. Time to get up. Or try to anyway. X_x Gwa. Wibble. 0_o* muh.

sounds all-too-familiar except for me it's the carbon monoxide alarum- i just stand on a chair. however, the two-cat teamup is brutal...

speaking of which- a piece of amusement: i've found two jazz hairs in the past week- the guyz like i've been cheating on them. ;}

and in good news: i finished a little something for you and elaine and it will be posted on saturday! :} *hugs*

You've seen our ceilings. A chair wouldn't cut it. I'm six feet tall and I have to stand on the next-to-top stair on our ladder to reasonably reach the ceiling. The offending smoke alarm is on the ceiling just outside the spare bedroom door.

And damn you organized people! Elaine has already sent things to her friends in New Zealand. Here you are getting gifts together. I'm lucky to *start* my Christmas shopping before the 23rd of December!

i keep track of gift ideas year 'round. i usually pick up the first gift in october but the majority are purchased in november (since i tend to do a lot of online shopping). i actually intend to send cards this year, but it's a rare thing- feel honoured. ;}

We had a wonderful wakeup call this morning. Sheba decide that she was craving some attention so she started youwling like a maniac at 4am. It's not just a meow, it's similar to the sound a baby makes when you strangle it. Actually, it's worse than that.
It's simply an attention getting manoeuvre. She does it all the time. But this 4am thing has to stop.
She shuts up pretty quick, but the damage is done. Then she starts up again at quarter to five, then six-thirty and maybe a few little ones inbetween.

Grrrarrrrrghghghh!!!!

Ah, that one has Siamese lungs. [livejournal.com profile] tharsis, of course, is 100% Siamese and can curdle your blood if he chooses. The day he got his paw stuck in the cat-door comes to mind. Gah. What a noise!

my favourite is the weekend which is supposed to be sleep in time...fatty invariably gets on the bed at 6:45 and meows at me to get up, after all we do this all week...then as soon as i move he runs to the food dish...luckily if i don't get up he usually leaves me alone, though not always...sometimes he comes back and is persistent...damn cats and their internal clocks...

Because I had no set schedule for the first three years I had these guys they work off other signals - either me being up or the alarm going off. It was getting up to take that battery out that got them started.

yeh unfortunately my internal clock generally gets me up or stirring in the 7 o'clock range, even on my days off...and that is the signal that the day should be starting...the cat is purring and meowing as soon as i stir a little...

HA! I have never fed my cat at a certain time I just fill up the dish when ever it is low, so no meowing for that, as for attention she knows it's when we are on the couch or royboy in his chair never in or on our bed!

But that sux :( I hate having a disturbed sleep makes the rest of tday a write off.

I always keep the bowl full, not so much to avoid this sort of thing but because if it sits empty for any length of time this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/tharsis/1051.html) happens.

But everyone gets treats in the morning. [livejournal.com profile] _jazz_ gets a small saucer of catmilk (special lactose free milk especially for cats). [livejournal.com profile] tharsis gets a "minouche" (i.e. a "Pounce" treat. The French side of the can says "Minouche"). ...And [livejournal.com profile] valerian gets a latté with a spot of vanilla in the milk.

The cats usually wait patiently until I am up or the alarm goes off. They know the routine. Problem is getting up to take the battery out meant that I was up, so they thought it was treat time.
