Based on a post made by [livejournal.com profile] logik some time back Elaine and I just purchased couple bottles of this while stocking up for out two cocktail parties planned for this month. Apparently this stuff takes vile, but has some "special properties" that make it worth enduring the flavour. What might those special properties be? Let's take a closer look at the label, shall we:

Yup. Coca leaf. As in the plant cocaine comes from. Purchased I might add, from the government owned and run liquor store. This is an entirely legal, purchased from the government no less, bottle of liquid cocaine. It's the "real thing" ;-)

Should I be bouncing off the walls at Sin City tonight, this'd be why.

Addendum 6:57 p.m.
Tonight's creation:

The Bolivian Marching Martini
2 parts Agwa
1 part Banana liqueur
2 parts citrus punch
2 parts soda

Shake over ice and serve chilled. It tastes like a jelly-bean!

I swear, I've just had a little bit of this stuff and I find myself rather giggly and perky and I can't type worth a damn. Heh. Have a coke and a smile ;-)

yup!

Yeah, the tag on the shelf said "One-Time Purchase!!" - I assume that means that's all the stock they had.

What is a "mongo" liquor store?

Mongo: really large, implying overly large to the point of absurdity. e.g. Stupid-Store is a mongo supermarket.

I think I just discovered another "only in Duncan" word ;-)

yeh most people i've encountered have called it mondo,a s in the italian word for "world"...wonder why the difference??? i made the correlation anyway as i've seen the liquor store on cambie and it is a mondo liquor store...by the way the mongo is also a unit of mongolian currency...

We cleared out the last few bottles from the liquor store (there was a sign on the shelf saying "one time purchase" - someone probably figured out what's actually *in* this stuff and so it will not be stocked again) so hopefully we'll have some left when we see you next.

I have a bottle of that stuff. I gave Shelley some on ice last time she was over visiting and she lurved it. It doesn't taste the nicest, but it definitely gives you a pretty unique buzz.

'Course, Jagers do that too. Schnikeys. How we loves our poisons!
