Well, we just went for a little walk to see what's up. The lights are out for all the streetlamps and traffic signals for Thurlow west to the park and just about everything north of Georgia that is older than about 1970.

Now what is especially peculiar is the police have a section of Hastings roped off on the 1200 block just behind [livejournal.com profile] _darkpixie_'s building and there is a body in the street (yes, I took my camera, but I can't post pictures right now since the UPS on my server gave up quite a while ago). There are no debris so it doesn't look like a car accident. There was no knocked over power pole or anything like that.

Strange. I can't image what would result in a dead body on Hastings and all the older portions of Coal Harbour being without power.

And an odd side-effect: there was no 9:00 gun tonight. Stanley Park and Dead Man's Island are without power, too.

I was wondering....

I usually have my blinds closed, so I don't really get to notice much outside, but Yeah, I didn't hear the 9:00 Gun either... freakin weird..

Are you sure it wasn't a film shoot? Its quite possible that they blew out some lights, or never know, it coulda been a leaper too...

Nope, it was a dead body alright. Personally I think it was a car accident as a result of the sudden blackout. Imagine: person crossing street, power goes out, car is zipping along, sees person at last second, hits the brakes, skids in the snow and hits the person, person goes flying and slams into a parked van - all in a couple of seconds. And it's not like a lot of cars were stopping or even slowing down while crossing Melville & Bute, once the traffic lights had gone (for example). Idiots.

Michael suggested it was a leaper. Maybe the person caused the blackout by falling onto a major power line...

very strange you don't often hear about what goes on...i know the other day, sunday i think, there was an armed stand off by stanley park...and they shot the guy, but i didn't see it on the news...one of my friend's coworkers was watching it as it happened...there is lots of snow and i'm sure most of the offices will be closed tomorrow as most people in the 'burbs won't be coming in...i probably don't have to go in, but i do have a couple of things to take care of before my holidays so i could always leave early...

A new icon ..cute

1) a corpse

2) all the lights blown
in a couple block radius

It can be only one thing

"..there can be only one..."

Damn Quickening... why does it have to be so destructively inconvennient.

Remeber the good old days when immortals ,serephim , vampires, werewolves and leperchauns kept their unholy wars a secret underworld behind the veil sorta thing. We were all quite content not knowing (at least until Cthulu arises and eats us)

It was quite strange. I kept thinking about what it must have been like in Toronto and New York when *everything* was out.

Interesting that there are at least two completely separate grids down here, though.
