I don't know if this is a joke or not

I never bother unsubscribing from most of the job boards I signed up on when I was looking for work a couple years ago, after all, it never hurts to know what's out there. Anyway, a posting for a Systems Administrator came in and this was written in the "Working Conditions" section:

• On-call availability.
• Sitting for extended periods of time.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
• Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
• Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

I shudder to think that someone may have felt it seriously necessary to point out that a Systems Administrator should be able to sit for long periods of time, operate a keyboard and mouse, crawl under desks and lift computers. It can't be serious. But then again one of the other job requirements was an MCSE.

heh, I would love to meet the person who wrote that, its so so sarcasticly funny! maybe he was looking for someone with a good sense of humor? I mean the job is so basic, and they could probably have a million applicants but what if they want someone whom they all get along with and like? and they are all a bunch of computer nerds that spend the day quoting monty python quotes. thats what I think anyhow.

I really hope it's just dry humour. It's hard to tell. It could be a joke or it may be like one of those ads looking for "15 years of web design experience".

well I know alot of computer nerds, and I do love them for their sense of humor, and I have no problems seeing one of them writing this. I f I didnt have a job I would apply for it. I love monty python jokes!! I would reply to them about how I am well known for having a sharp eye for out of place cables, and an almost supernatural sense for knowing safe times to get up from sitting positions. also I have many years of juggling pens, pencils,keyboads and curser mice all at the same time.

Great - sounds like a bait-and-switch type job posting to me.

Although it is a delightful change from Must have a PHD in molecular biology , 25 years finacial banking services experience ,speak 12languages ,divide by zero and be on call 36 hours a day in 12 cities for this Starbucks job.
