I found out today that someone on Friendster was calling themselves "Gothic BC" and using the logo from my site. I e-mailed Friendster about it and they have been moofed.
moof 1. v. To be suddenly disconnected from an online connection or serivce. Bruce W. Apple coined the term when his dog "Moof" tripped over the wiring under his desk. 2. n. The sound made by the Macintosh dogcow "Claris".
using the name is lame enought, but not surprising when you think of how uncreative the masses are...but using the logo is pathetic and they deserve to get their ass booted...friendster is touchy about copyrighted stuff...stick it to the man!!!
Fuck THAT! That is not a situation where someone would have ANY justification in pissed-off-ness at a reaction to their actions. What the hell? Why on earth would someone commit Gothic BC fraud anyway?
Although I only have a screen-shot to go on, I don't think it was a malicious thing, just stupid. I think the person in question had the idea of making a Gothic BC "community" on Friendster. Of course there is no such thing as a community on Friendster and that alone would have been reason enough for them to close the account. If they hadn't used my logo and made it look like it was associated with my site I would have left it alone for Frienster to sort out, but doing something against Friendster's rules and making it look like my stuff? I'm not cool with that.
