O.K., this is just too cool. I have a strong urge to get it along with one of these. It's a shame the casette deck doesn't come in black.

Oh yeah! Now check this out:

The tape deck's a pretty cool idea, but speaking as a tape deck fanatic, it's not suited for serious archival use (the transport is probably not good enough, and there's no mention of tape type selection or noise reduction selection). I've settled on using a high-end tape deck (Onkyo TA-2090), connected to a decent analog-to-digital converter (Sony MDS-JB930), connected via digital I/O to the sound card to my computer (C-Media chipset with digital I/O), running SoundForge. This allows me to adjust the deck to match the tape exactly, to control the recording level, and to minimize any noise generated by the computer. It also allows for serious archival of other sources (like a record by connecting a high-end turntable). I scored my tape deck used for $15 US at a thrift store (it was worth over $1000 US back in the late 80's). All it required was a some cleaning and ajusting and it was working great (some parts will need replacing soon, though). Some day I'll find a used Nakamichi Dragon and I'll be in heaven :) I know I'm a geek - LOL.

Ha Ha Ha...

I don't smoke inside, but I want that car lighter just purely for the geek factor. I think that's the coolest fucking thing!
