The 6' hole in the wall (one of two) that been there for two months now...

...Featuring the misaligned hole they have tried to re-drill several times now.

And the completely useless hole to nowhere.

at this point I am curious if it is really the fault of the resoration company.

It could be that the building is old , or poorly engineered (just casue it's old and pretty - doesn't mean it's good) and that if they made "pretty" changes the building would collapse.

It could also be that the building management is cheap as hell and won't pay for "good" renovations. It could be that the management failed to disclose the extent of the work required when they put out the bid - and the contractors are only doing what they are paid to do.

What exactly is it about the holes that don't line up and the hole that doesn't connect to anything that makes you think it was done intentionally?

holes that don't line up may have been drilled to reach areas that once lined up before the building settled/shifted.

The hole that doesn't connect to anthing may have been drilled for exploration purposes-
or it may have been drilled due to faulty plans.

OK, I'm reaching my boiling point. I just got in the door, and as I did, the guy doing the drywall warned me that the plumber next door was banging so hard, that a glass fell off a shelf. I looked, and it was one of our collector bat glasses, the ones with the pewter seal.

After I had cleaned up the shattered glass, Jason poked his head it to warn me about the same thing, pointing out that it was the plumber. I didn't say anything but "you know...I'm getting pretty damn sick of this crap." If I had stayed to chat I'd have torn his head off. So, I decided to pet Tharsis in the bedroom instead.
