The Vancouver Sun today has gone a good distance toward redeeming CanWest Global Communications for their early, tawdry sensationalizing of the disappearance and subsequent deaths of Mark Rempel and Rachel Adams. The Sun, being the least yellow of the three CanWest outlets in town (Global TV and the Vancouver Province being the other two) as somewhat redeemed itself by living up to some small vestige of the tradition of investigative journalism concerned with facts. It remains problematic, however that such a "redemption" should even be necessary and the the spurious linkage was made at all.

not too shabby but still a bit scribbled
Date: 2004-10-16 02:21 pm (UTC)My Mom was concerned that by stating what all of us know, (hootchies and jocks and morons are problematic drunken violence driven louts) that we could be construed as targets and could get jumped/knifed/shot/etc. I told her that most of us already have our backs up anyways due to the consistent hassling by non-goths/non-freak friendly people, and that we're always aware.
At least she understands the subculture a bit better, to a degree, and she can stop with the random bullshit about satanists/ sexual deviancy/ drugs/ morbidity when she gets pissed off and is looking for verbal ammo.
The damn picture looks like some friggin album cover tho'.
