Work today was ugly. Two of my favourite people in the office were there only to pack their things today, having been canned yesterday. Someone else quit. I'll inevitably loose my office soon because the floor I am on is all but empty and the main floor has more than enough room to house the few of us remaining. I didn't do much work today. No one did. A lot of people from the office left early to get drunk at Joe Fortes'. What three years ago was a brilliant place to work, a company to be proud of, is rapidly turning into an embarrassment and a shit hole. There is no loyalty anymore, just a need to continue to get paid.

I really hope, rather desperately, that something changes for the better soon.

i know what you mean about that...when i first started working for safeway it was a pretty decent place to work...they paid well, they treated the employees well and people really like their jobs...but the company was bought by a large holding company and they gutted it and brought in steve burd from fred meyers...a known hatchet man...he scaled everything down and made it a miserable place to work...where people had enjoyed their jobs before, and cared about their work, it was no longer...all of the good people started leaving and only those who couldn't find something else stayed...by the end i couldn't stand being at work...and then thankfully i got out...i don't miss it anymore, but in the beginning it was actually a good job...so much so i actually left the government to work there fulltime at one time...then i went back...i really hope it works out for you, or that you find a job that was equally as rewarding as yours was when you first started it...

Yeah, Elaine went through the same thing with her work, too.

it's the unfortunate corporate syndrome of the last decade or so...they just keep becoming more and more efficient profit machines utterly devoid of any humanity...

I'm jealous - if my workplace were a shithole that'd actually be an improvement
