It was built in 1909. Over the years some of the character has been stripped away in misguided attempts at modernising or "improving" the building. I wish I was rich enough to buy the whole damn place instead of just renting one apartment so I could fix it up to its former glory.

I am not surprised...

Running around at my job, I have come to the realization that only about 10% of the people I deliver to have anything more than a wreath or a sad little christmas corner set up at this point. People seem to be waiting till the last moment to do anything if at all.

I have to admit we've had a hard time getting in the spirit this year (having Elaine's car totalled hasn't helped at all), but really... how hard is it to stick up a few lights? I've also noticed in recent years that people who do put up lights tend never to take them down. I remember a lot more lights when I was a kid and taking them down in January was part of the ritual.
