  1. Assemble a committee
  2. Insist on looking at the issue in isolation
  3. Ignore the larger issues
  4. Present form over substance
  5. Go with the lowest common denominator

And now ask me if I still care. It's all S.E.P. now.

it sounds pretty interesting and right up your alley...if you need any advice in doing up a government resume let me know...the keys are to make sure you include you are a canadian citizen and a high school graduate...they will screen people out for not including it even if you can prove it later...the perks are great benefits, the best pension plan you can imagine and monday to friday, no stats, good vacation, sick leave, dental, extended medical and the like...

Good advice. I'll run this by Elaine first, of course. I intend to also include in my cover letter that I am an Associate member of the Legion, was formerly with the medical division out of the Bay St. Armoury in Victoria, and to highlight the contracts I've had with government when I was independent and sub-contracting.

I don't think I'd have a whole lot of competition in the same league.

yeh i was thinking the military service would help...of course you would have to check with elaine, i figured that but i thought i'd point it out to you...that site jobs.gc.ca is a good one for finding jobs open to the public in the government...it's worth keeping an eye on...

congrats...let me know if you need anything further...i will look at the statement of qualifications and such...let me know if it's an interview or if there is a test or anything...there might not be with this job but government competitions have standard rules and i can give you some advice on how to handle them...

so thestatement of qualifications is what they will use to determine the eligibility of the candidates...there will likely be some sort of testing as noted at the bottom, that is my guess anyway...strange there is usually a contact number on there for further information but you could get it from the psc in victoria listed there...i could maybe look when i get back to work next week...at any rate it is certainly a good experience to enter the world of government competitions even to get experience for ones in the future...after it's done you can get a "post board" where they go through the entire process with you and let you know how you did and what they were looking for...they are worthwhile even if you are successful...which reminds me i should do one for the job i just got...ha ha...
