Thanks to a lead from [livejournal.com profile] seymour_glass I made my first job application today. I updated my résumé on a number of job sites a couple months ago, when it became clear the takeover was going to happen, but I hadn't gone out of my way to send any résumés until today. I have now made the leap from "being open to opportunities" to "actively looking for a new job."

This one that I just applied for would be in Victoria, which would be an interesting change. Thanks to some odd quirks I think I have a pretty good shot at it, too. But since it is a Government of Canada posting that ends January 21st, so will be February before I even hear back about an interview.

In the mean time I'll be firing more résumés off to other places as they come up.

good luck...i hope it works out for you...and i'll keep my eyes open for any other opportunities in the federal govt...i was thinking you should check with the city governments, parks board, police, fire dept, etc...

and a competition can be a lengthy process dependant upon the number of applications they receive...but the one i was just in took just over a month, though it's generally two or three...and this one is pretty specialized so there may not be a lot of successful candidates...

I was thinking that too. He might have a good chance. *crosses fingers* Thank you so much for passing the info along though, it's inspired some great alternatives. :)
